Embrace

Embrace
chalk on fabric
4 x 4

I call these fabric drawings paintings. There's no paint but they hang on
a wall, they have all the elements of painting-color, value, scale, line, concept, etc..
But im learning each time about how much object-hood these pieces hold.  Fabric is not stretched canvas, it moves, changes and takes on the character of its installation. It is
sculptural as well as painterly. boy I'm talking a lot.

The fabric colors are great; almost like a photo filter over the image - cooling or warming. It would be great to see these types of colors all lined up in a boring white gallery....would be electric. Love the drawings, especially the subtleties of shade and line-weight, and I know that you didn't even need a camera lucida. It's great to see your work on this time line of a blog. It seems to evolve so intuitively. You are way out ahead, keep at it.
